4.4 Billion Years
Some of the oldest zircon crystals on Earth formed 4.4 billion years ago. The planet was barely cooled. The oceans were still becoming. The continents were still forming. And zircon was already there — crystallizing, recording the chemical conditions of a newborn world inside its atomic structure.
When we named two of our earphones after zircon — White Zircon and Silver-White Zircon — we weren't just picking a pretty name. We were connecting a product that exists in the present to a material that has witnessed the entire history of this planet.
That connection matters to us. Not because OF HUNGER earphones are ancient. Obviously they're not. But because the minerals we reference carry a weight that no synthetic name ever could.
The Stone That Moves
Tiger's eye has long been explained through crocidolite and quartz: a fibrous blue mineral structure associated with the stone's chatoyancy, the band of light that moves across its surface. Geologists have debated the exact formation process, but the visible effect is clear: a golden line that slides across the stone like a living thing.
That visual effect feels like a geological recording. What you see in a tiger's eye stone is the trace of mineral fibers and light — preserved in place, visible every time the angle changes.
The Color That Won't Sit Still
Opal is different from almost every other stone because its color isn't caused by chemistry. It's caused by structure. Tiny silica spheres stacked in a regular grid diffract light into its component colors. The result is a stone that changes hue depending on the angle — not because it contains different pigments, but because the architecture of the stone itself bends light.
Opal's play-of-color is a structural memory — a record of the conditions under which those silica spheres arranged themselves, preserved in a display that never looks the same twice.

We could have named our products after anything. Colors. Cities. Numbers. We chose minerals because minerals carry stories that are older, deeper, and more interesting than anything a marketing team could invent.
