OF HUNGER didn't launch at a tech expo. It launched on a runway.
Since 2022, our earphones have appeared at Shanghai Fashion Week, Melbourne Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week — presented alongside clothing collections, not in a gadget booth. That origin shapes everything about how we think our products should be worn: not as audio equipment, but as fashion accessories that happen to play music.
This is the story of how we got here, and a practical guide to how to wear ear cuff earbuds like ours in everyday life.
The Runway Years
OF HUNGER was founded in 2022 as a brand dedicated to electronic wearables — a space between consumer audio and fashion accessories that no one was designing for.
The NEBULA collection debuted at Shanghai Fashion Week and Melbourne Fashion Week, where it was styled as part of complete runway looks — paired with avant-garde silhouettes, layered with traditional jewelry, and treated as a focal accessory rather than an afterthought.
In 2024, the brand appeared at Paris Fashion Week and opened concept spaces in Beijing, including a dedicated installation at SKP-S and an experience store in Sanlitun.
Recognition
The design approach has been recognized across both fashion and technology contexts:
- Red Dot Design Award 2024
- A' Design Award Silver — Wearable Technologies Design (Electronic Gems)
- A' Design Award Silver — Digital and Electronic Devices Design (NEBULA)
- DFA Awards 2022
These awards matter because they validate what OF HUNGER is doing at the intersection of two industries that rarely talk to each other. The products aren't just good-looking earphones. They aren't just jewelry-shaped gadgets. They're recognized as design objects in their own right.
How to Wear OF HUNGER: 5 Everyday Looks
Ear cuffs have become one of the easiest ways to upgrade your ear stack — and our ear cuff earbuds follow the same styling logic, with the added benefit of actually playing your music.
Here's how to wear ear cuffs like OF HUNGER across five different contexts:
1. The Black Dress
A black dress is a blank canvas, and accessories stylists agree that statement earrings can single-handedly carry a black dress. OF HUNGER pieces — especially the metallic tones of MONOLITH or the warm iridescence of Opal — work as black dress statement earrings that also happen to be functional.
Styling tip: Keep the neckline clean. Let the ear be the focal point. Skip the necklace.
2. The Casual Layer
Relaxed dressing benefits from one intentional detail. A single Tiger's Eye earphone adds a warm metallic accent to denim, linen, or an oversized blazer without making the look feel overdressed.
Styling tip: Wear on one ear only. Asymmetric styling is a strong 2026 trend — one bold cuff on one side, nothing on the other.
3. The Commute
This is where the open-ear design earns its place. Podcast playing, traffic still audible, and the earphone itself reads as a deliberate accessory rather than a generic white stem.
Styling tip: Match the metal tone of your earphone to your watch or rings. Small continuities make an outfit look considered.
4. The Creative Studio
For designers, photographers, and creative professionals, OF HUNGER is the kind of object that belongs in a studio. Background music without isolation. A visual identity statement that sits comfortably in a creative environment.
Styling tip: The sculptural forms of NEBULA pair well with monochrome workwear. Let the earphone be the one non-neutral element.
5. Hair Up, Earphone Out
Hair up is when ear accessories shine. A pulled-back style — bun, ponytail, slicked back, or a cropped cut — turns the ear into a stage. White Zircon catches light against exposed skin; NEBULA's sculptural forms cast visible shadows along the jawline.
Styling tip: If you have existing earrings, wear the OF HUNGER piece on the opposite ear. The asymmetry reads intentional, not accidental.
Wear It Your Way
These are suggestions, not rules. The real styling guide is the one you build yourself — which is why we maintain a Style gallery with real looks and wear inspiration.
